WHAT THE FUNDS RAISED SUPPORT

Below are some of the uses of the funds that were raised by previous races.

All of the money raised benefits the Mary Washington Healthcare Regional Cancer CenterSince 2012, over $132,000 has been raised. The Battling Cancer Race continues to occur annually with great success on Father's Day.

  • Genetic counseling program (cost of the genetic counselor)

  • Transportation for patients to oncology related appointments and treatment—after all other options exhausted such as family, friends, volunteers, community vans, Medicaid van (if applicable), etc. (gas cards and Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging service)

  • Integrative medicine program (music therapy, massage, yoga; and cost of Integrative Medicine Coordinator position)

  • Patient education materials

  • Walmart gift cards (used for emergency situations for prescriptions, food, or gas)

  • Inpatient Navigator program (cost of Inpatient Navigator position)

  • Oncology related education for staff

  • Program certification and staff training for Oncology Rehabilitation

  • Enteral (tube feeding) formula for uninsured patients

  • Wig for uninsured patient
